Painter and printmaker, Kari Vick, works with both traditional and modern techniques. I really enjoyed working with Kari to convert her Family Tree and ABC’s collection into quilts. Read below about the inspiration behind Kari’s ABC’s collection.
“When my little friend, Freja, was born her name appeared to me in painted letters. “F” fox & fireweed, “R” raven reaping rowenberries, “E” an egret evening, “J” jewelwing in jackpine, “A” antler & aspens. Well, “B” bears in buttercups, practically painted itself. Chipmunks, Deer, Ermines, oh my! Suddenly, I was at Zebra clubtail!
Agate, Birch, Chickadee-dee-dee. Individual or combined, “The A-B-Sees: A Boreal Collection” letters spell nature from A to Z. “X” took a lot of research. Thank goodness for “Xanthophyll” the plant pigment that causes the color yellow in autumn leaves.”
